Busy busy

The bad news is that our workload has tripled, and we’re bogged down a bit. The great news, though, is we’re doing three times as much stuff! We have added the second show on FreeFM, and we’ve started shooting videos each week; in theory, we’re going to start updating the blog, forum and website a lot more often as well. Plus there’s the minor detail that we’re all in grad school!

Due to exhaustion, last night was the first week that we didn’t go out barhopping after wrapping our FreeFM show. (How can you stay on the air until 12 AM and not drink afterwards?) But it’s a good tired. We’re feeling privileged to get involved in so much stuff, and to get so much great feedback. (Along with the occasional hatemail, which tells us we’re finally getting out there and reaching the Flame community, which can’t be all bad!)

Anyway, please bear with us as we slowly get things geared up. We’re taking a week off from the podcast to get this backlog of stuff under control. And I’m sure we’ll be back to late-night shenanigans next week.

Camper Van Beethoven Video

Yesterday when I got a behind the scenes tour of The Guardian I got a chance to meet the graphics guy “Victor” who also happens to be in a the band Camper Van Beethovan. And in a small world turn of events I happened to P.A. on the shoot for the song from the title track to their album “New Roman Times” because my friend Teddi Dean Bennett was the director and producer. Like most humans Teddi only has two hands and they were busy holding expensive camera equipment… so he needed to borrow a couple of mine…

The video I think is just amazing! This video is heavy though… really tight, but deep… so be forewarned find yourself a shoulder to cry on before watching… because it’s rated TJ (tear jerker).

Thanks Teddi for letting me be a part of such an amazing project!

Did I get that stuffed animal back?

Beardog is his name. He’s a dog, but everyone asks me if I got my teddybear back. And if you can believe it I never named him, even though I’ve slept with him every night since well… For YEARS. A few years back my boyfriend (he’s no longer my boyfriend or a friend for that matter although I assume he is still a boy) asked what’s his name and I said I never gave him one. He thought this was quite a stuffed animal travesty considering how cute and cuddly and adorably huggable he was… And he named him Beardog… It’s been Beardog ever since…

Beardog is home safe and sound and is now married to Mrs. Bear. They have two children Merry Berry and Larry Berry and lots of friends (ladybugs, frogs… Anything stuffed really). He doesn’t like to leave the house to much anymore - since, well as you can imagine taking a plunge in the Pacific was a little traumatic for him.

Anyway, he likes to stay home and make sure the kitties are not getting into any trouble AND he always says “why would he ever leave a cozy bed if he has the option to stay home and give snuggles all day…” He has a good point.

booking shows

La la la la la la… that is about as happy as I’ll get this week as I book the show on racism and media related issues… times are tough and we have to talk about some heavy topics… that being said I always read a ton during the week of the show and hands down this topic would be worth a whole week of talk and deserves lots of time more time then we have on our two hour show… but we’ll give it a go because it’s better to put something out there that’s how we can help “right” this terrible wrong… and this stuff is heavy

ideas welcome for upcoming shows we are about to open up some topic ideas to our listeners so lets us know what types of media related topics you would like us to cover…. you name it i’ll research it and we’ll get you a show going

No One’s Turning 30

Break out the birthday suits: No One is Turning 30

In good news there are only about twenty years left for me to ovulate.

In great news I have five whole years left before I have to resort to male ordering a groom and/or settling for a turkey baster. I’m kidding jeesh

Fallopian tubes are uniquely shaped like a heart for a reason so show the love (listen to our show ON LOVE… and if you are out of town just drop a note of good wishes!!!

It’s time to get busy researching Botox

We are totally back

I was so ready to rock the mic… I literally broke my leg for the occasion (ok my ankle). Somehow getting picked up just doubled my work, but unlike the double mint gum twins it unfortunately did not double my pleasure.

We need some illustrations. I was going to take an art class (because using my upside-down-backwards unable to give up control of things rational I thought we need art, I’ll learn to draw…) I also flirted with the idea of learning flash, and editing, and whatever show topic I take on for the week I then begin to entertain the idea that “punk rock” seems cool and maybe I will take up guitar…

So we do have vlogs now (they are hiding on Blip TV) and they will find a home on our site someday…. when we have time… and since I have none of the skillz needed to work on the website when I say we I mean someone else besides me… because there is no I in we or me in we…

When we are a grown up website you can navigate with ease I promise not to take any credit for the redesign… even though there is an I in credit and yet no we in credit…. and if you thank me I will say “Your welcome” not to take the credit simply because there is a we in welcome… and I would want to give credit where credit is due…

Nobody reads blogs right?

We need to start tagging. How can I tag like a grown up podder, vlogger, blogger…
